The Downtown Library is Getting a New Look!
If you haven't heard, the first floor of the Downtown Library will be getting a big upgrade, making it a much more modern, flexible and welcoming space (see renderings on the left). Not only will the new space be more accessible, but the renovation also allows us to make needed maintenance updates. Construction begins in September and is expected to last for 9-12 months.

To prepare for the first floor construction, the Downtown Library will be closed Sept. 1st-7th. The Downtown Library will then reopen on Monday, September 8th, on the second and third floors, which will now temporarily include holds, new books, and materials and spaces for teens adn kids.

In addition, the Library! at Cole and Ustick is getting a new book sorter installed, which requires a temporary move of the outdoor book drop to the front. Thank you for your patience as we make these exciting upgrades!

BPL Making a Difference!
"My toddler has been attending Family Storytime at Hillcrest with some regularity over the last year. As she has started to explore letter sounds and words, I have caught her using a Miss Katie trick. When she wants to pronounce something carefully, or figure out a letter, she will tap her chin as she says the letter sound to identify if it fits the word. It has been so exciting to see how something so small from storytime is making such a big impact on her learning!" -- Kylie
